Talents

Talents is a program which trains individuals to “use their hands” in order to support the work of God, by being self-sufficient and skilled in business. The vision of Talents enables people to establish businesses and projects to support select fundraising efforts in the ministry.  Once fundraising is complete, many businesses go on to grow and become permanent sources of income for individuals. Historically, Talents was a program exclusively for women, and today is now being carried out by men, women, and children alike.

In 1972 a revelation was given by God to Archbishop Dr. EH Guti while he was studying in the United States of America in Dallas, TX.
“Towards the end of the year, a certain man who had a lot of money, a big church, and many buses, came to me and said 'Work under me so that I may help you in all your work and in building churches in your country.'“
The man promised money and buses for the work, and at the time, there was a great need for funds to fulfill much work in the ministry which was still in its early years.

Dr. Guti explains how he told the man he would pray to God, then give him an answer the following day.

“After praying, God spoke to me and said, “If you work under this man, you may do so, but I will not be with you, I will take away my anointing from you.”  I said, “I wanted money to do your work Oh Lord.  Should I return empty handed?  What am I going to give to the workers you gave me to work with?”

God said to me that night, “If you humble yourself and obey me, I will be your money. I answered saying, “Oh Lord, I want to work under you and not under this man.”

God gave Ezekiel instructions to go back to his country and teach the people His word, and to teach them to give, and also work “Talents.”
In returning to the man the following morning, he said “I'm am sorry, God has forbidden me to work under you but under Him.”  The man said, “You are gong to suffer because you refused to work under me.”
When he returned to his country Zimbabwe, Ezekiel began to do as the Lord instructed, in teaching the women to work Talents.

Women were taught to to work and use their hands, in a time when many were housewives in one-income households.  Beginning with a certain woman named Priscilla Ngoma, to whom Dr. Guti gave the instructions which he received from God, women were taught and began earning money through projects such as farming, imports and exports, trading, sewing, knitting, catering, and much more.

“In 1977, we managed to raise one hundred and twenty thousand dollars, and people were amazed and gave glory to God.  It was a lot of money during that time.  Many churches were built everywhere.  This is the God of Heaven. Hallelujah. Glory be to God forever. For His mercy endures forever.  Let all saints rise and shout for Joy!” ~ (From the book “History of ZAOGA Forward in Faith.  The Book of Rememberance”)
Talents Today

As a result of Talents many people in the church are now self-employed, and have learned the skills needed to establish businesses.

Internationally, Talents is periodically executed through the FIFMI nations and assemblies worldwide, with men and children now also participating.  Talents have taken people from poverty to prosperity, and continue to fund the work of God today.
